shiny clean houseplants

Like everything else in your house, the houseplants like to collect dust.... sometimes, lots of it.

It is important to keep your leaves clean and shiny, not just for aesthetical purposes, but it is important to the plant.

In nature, wind and rain helps keep plants clean.  Like in all living things, dirty surfaces collect germs and offer more diseases and problems to settle in.

Also, since plants rely on their leaves for food (photosynthesis), they need clean clear leaves to get the most from the sun as they can possibly benefit from.  Dirty leaves are like looking at a beautiful garden through a dirty window ... you just don't get a great effect.

Regular cleaning of the leaves also allows time for close inspection of your plants.  As you're dusting and wiping, it offers a great time to be checking over the plant for insect, fungus, and other types of problems.  ...and also do a quick soil test to see how your plant is doing on water.  On a routine basis, your plants will thrive longer and happier in your care because you will be on top of everything it needs.

So keep your leaves shiny and clean for healthier houseplants.  You can spray just simple water on them and wipe them off, but I have found this just leaves water spots all over the leaf surfaces anyway.  I myself, prefer to buy leaf shine from Miracle-Gro.  It is good for all your hard leaf plants.... ~~~but do not use on anything with soft or hairy leaves or on succulents. ~~~  You'll love the clean shine it gives your plants and they will love the clean fresh air it offers.  smile.gif   ~~~  I will note not to use this product frequently, as it can clog the pores on your plants if over used.  Mist with water and showers between uses.
